UV LACQUER
Basica UV Lacquer finish is designed for protection, practicality, and everyday ease— without compromising the natural look of timber. It adds a fine, even layer over the surface, giving a subtle sheen that enhances grain and colour while sealing the floor against wear, moisture, and mess.
Unlike traditional high-gloss lacquers, Basica strikes the right balance. It has just enough sheen to look polished and refined, without feeling artificial. At the same time, it avoids the overly flat, ultra-matte finishes that can be hard to maintain—prone to showing every mark, smudge, and footprint. It’s clean, modern, and easy to live with.
About the Surface
Medium Smoked
Medium smoked oak strikes a balance between warmth and contrast. The smoking process reacts more noticeably with the timber’s tannins, deepening the base tone and bringing through visible grain movement. It adds a sense of age and depth without tipping into drama. Natural variation is part of the character and will be enhanced or softened depending on the grade and finish selected.
Light Brushed
The surface has been lightly brushed to lift the grain and add subtle texture. This process enhances natural detail without creating roughness, giving the floor a gently tactile, refined feel underfoot.
Grading explained
Grading is one of the biggest factors in the overall look of a floor, and one of the easiest places for quality to slip.
At Frevini, we carry out our grading with tight tolerances and clear criteria. Especially in our Select and Nature grades, we’re far stricter than industry norms, meaning fewer surprises on site and a more consistent, reliable outcome for your project.
We offer three grading options across our standard ranges:
- Select: A clean grade with consistent tone, tight grain, and only the occasional small knot (up to 10mm). No sapwood.
- Nature: A mostly clean appearance with just enough movement to keep it interesting. Expect moderate knots (up to 25mm), visible grain, and tonal variation, but no sapwood. Well-balanced and versatile.
- Character: Often referred to as Feature grade. The most expressive. Larger knots (up to 60mm), heavier grain, visible sapwood (up to 30%). Full of natural contrast and detail.
Super Select is also available in certain profiles and sizes, on request.
